It is with an unbelievable degree of gratitude to The Almighty, to my family, to those who have offered teffilot and prayers on my behalf, to my doctors and their team at Sloan-Kettering....and to myself for committing to doing whatever was necessary and to never giving up that I have now completed my fourth and final cycle of chemotherapy.
....And so completes another step in this ascent towards health and renewal.
There is much that looms ahead.... another operation....perhaps more chemotherapy....but at this moment I must simply thank Hashem for seeing me through this far.
Each and every one of our Hebrew names has a corresponding verse in the Torah.
My Hebrew name is Mi-cha-el and the verse corresponding to my name is "Mah tovu Ohalecha Yakov mishcenotecha Yisrael....How goodly are your tents, O Jacob, your dwelling places, O Israel."
It is quite simply overwhelming to me that this verse....of at all times....we read this past Shabbos the world over.
What a majestic and beautiful sign Hashem in His kindness has sent me.
Our Sages expound that these "tents" refer to our spiritual heritage....the tents alluding to study halls....and the "dwelling places" refer to G-d's holy and divine presence.
The Ramban, we are taught, interprets this entire passage as a blessing....and I am humbled by the seeming fortuity of receiving this sign at exactly this moment in time.
AMAZING!!!
My heart also soars with gratitude at this time as our precious Danielle is on an El Al flight to Israel as I type these keys.
Hashem has blessed us so....I am forever grateful!!!
B'simcha

Michael,
ReplyDeleteI just heard about your illness and all thoughts will be with you. It was just a year ago that you offered to visit my Dad in Quadrangle. I will think of you when I return to Buckskin next week and look forward to doing that hike with you next year.
