Master of the Universe....
Thank you!!
Only in Your divine wisdom and with Your divine compassion would this morning's sunrise have been greeted by our sweet Danielle's return from Eretz Yisrael.
To see Danielle walk into our small apartment with Lisa and Adam as I davened Shaccarit was quite simply incredible.
Only You could have orchestrated this so smoothly.
You have been so kind to us.
I know that the course you have set for our family is not meant to be easy.
....at the heart of our collective worry....at the center of my own pain and disfigurement ....this road has overflowed with beauty.
If beauty can be measured by an even deeper appreciation and love for one another...if beauty can be measured by a greater awareness of Your presence in our lives than ever before....if beauty can be measured by the overwhelming outpouring of chesed and tefilla by our community and beyond then all is incredibly beautiful.
These are all reflections of the divine sparks of light which we know will draw us out of this darkness.
As the sun rose this morning, Danielle returned with an amazing clarity as to her connection to You. Her strong and vibrant sense of self has been brightened and is more aglow thanks to You....and this is but one of the many gifts which has resulted from this great test I am facing.
Tomorrow....what will become of me tomorrow?
I know I must climb higher still....
And it is crystal clear that there is no ascension without You......
So I implore You Hashem.....I beg of You....much like Moshe Rabbeinu implored you this past Shabbos in Va'Eschanan.
Please look favorably upon me Hashem...although I am undeserving... I plead with You to look favorably upon me all the same.
As I prepare for what awaits tomorrow I know that I am in the right place....with the best surgeons and medical team.
I am also soothed by the words from the Haftorah read yesterday....
"Nachamu Nachamu Ami Yomar Eloheichem....Dabru Al Lev Yerushalim V'kiru ELeiha"....
"Comfort, comfort My people - says Hashem. Speak to the heart of Jerusalem and proclaim to her that her time of exile has been fulfilled."
So please Hashem....let me return to my family....my community....my home....
B'simcha

Michael,
ReplyDeleteAs the sun sets and your meeting with the surgeons is but a night away, your understandable concern is so overshadowed by your unabounding love and devotion, first to your dear family, now reunited, and always, always with Hashem. Yaakov faced the night when Aisav's angel fought all night with him. In the end, he was wounded, but he prevailed, so much so that he was given the name Yisroel as tribute to his triumph over darkness, bringing the battle his weapon of Light. That name means the prevailing struggle of the soul over all that seeks to bring it down, but grammatically this name, which is Israel's name, breaks down to yasher k'ail -- the one whose path to Hashem is straight, true and righteous. This is you, Michael. May Hashem see you through this night and tomorrow's battle, and while you will bear scars as Yaakov did, may you arise from it the father of your children, looking forward into the years when you may inspire your family, your friends, all with whom you will come in contact with an ever-heightened, ever-brighter light that comes from having seen and struggled, and having won! Hanna and I, Malky and Chaim, all of us, pray for that victory! Lovingly, Naph
Dear Michael,
ReplyDeleteThe special gathering for you tonight at Aish was packed with men and women and the Tehillim were very moving. Our thoughts and prayers are with you especially tonight and tomorrow. I imagine it will be hard for you to sleep tonight - if you want you can call my cell anytime tonight.
Love, Sherman
Michael, you are deserving of all of Hashem's Brachos and Mercy.....May He shine upon you in the coming hours and may all of your and our prayers be answered L'Tovah.

Michael,
ReplyDeleteWe davened in a small shul in Stockholm this Shabbos. Although their was a great distance between us, we felt an incredibly strong connection when we prayed for your recovery. We thought about all of the wonderful things you do for the general community and for individuals. You have so many more contributions to make to the Jewish community.

We have walked alongside loved ones on the same path and understand your fear and have seen wonderful things occur. You are wise to see and rejoice in the great rewards that continually present themselves daily through your loved ones and what you have been given in this beautiful world.
