The battle within my gut continues unabated. It has raged all night with neither side willing to give in.
I can only hope that we are making headway against this death inside me......
I remind myself again and again that the cancer needs no rest and has no intentions of losing.
It's all up to me!!
I must steady myself at each moment.....double my resolve and press on.....with the help of The Almighty I'm going to do that today.....of that I am certain.

Good morning Michael. I'm starting my workday, as usual, by reading your blog and sending love and prayers out to you. Despite the challenge that you face and the fact that you are clearly not feeling well, your postings never cease to amaze and inspire me. I hope that you feel better soon!! Love to Sil.

Michael,
ReplyDeleteYou wrote: "The battle within my gut continues unabated. It has raged all night with neither side willing to give in."
This sounds like something Yaakov would have said the morning after fighting Samael (Eisav's angel). That fight has often been depicted as the battle within that wages between the dark and light forces of each of us (yetzer tov and yetzer hara). It is a fight waged by the animal soul (nefesh) that drives the primitive instincts and desires of our bodies and the divine soul (neshama) that conquers and transcends. That is your task today and each day that you wage this war! I know that your emunah, your bitachon, and your strong will to prevail against all odds that have sustained you and inspired us all will guide you in this long bout! Love ya brother, Naph
ADD ON:
ReplyDeleteRemember what we learned together in Shemini (the eighth day - the day of transcendence), the word - GACHON - the word that means "belly" (or as you put it, "gut")is the exact middle of the Torah. Your struggle is to remain upright - reaching for Hashem - and not creep on your belly - the curse of the snake in the Garden.
I hear your battle cry! Chazak, Chazak! May you go from strength to strength! Love and Blessings, Janis
ReplyDeleteHang in there my brother.
ReplyDeleteThe cancer inside you has no shot, none. I know not one other person with your determination and resolve. It will serve you well.

Michael,
ReplyDeleteIt is not easy to hear you sounding anything but strong.......it pains us alot....but strength comes from within and you have it, no matter what is going on in your gut.
March on dear friend!
Debbi and marc
Just another day on the front lines my close friend! You just rest and your inner strength will keep fighting even when you become fatigued. Thirty years of tenacity has filled your body and soul...enough to ward off any infectious cell......next February 3 when you catch up to me a day before my own birthday, we will toast your health with that 32 ounce Heineken bottle...with Marti and Phil laughing along!
ReplyDeleteDear Michael,
ReplyDeleteThe fury of a disease has been turned on you, but with the help of The Almighty, a brilliant medical staff, and a fantastic family you will overcome and win this war.
With this victory our family will long remember that this was indeed your finest hour.
Love,
Dad

ReplyDeleteHayom Yom reads today - 14 Iyar, Pesach Sheini
"The theme of Pesach Sheini is that it is never too late. It is always possible to put things right. Even if one was tamei, or one was far away, and even in the case of lachem, when this (impurity, etc.) was deliberate - nonetheless he can correct it."
Fight on, it's never too late.
Be well.
Michael
I hope that you endure this terrible battle with some humor as well! Get some good, funny movies! Continue to fight with some laughter!

Hello Michael,
ReplyDeleteApril 28 is always a special day on my yearly calendar. I was very happy to hear that you had a day of favorites - favorite lunch at Mendi's, a visit from favorite friend, Yitz and your favorite night of the week, learning with Naph! It is so important to enjoy these simple things we often take for granted. Maybe my angel was with you today as well! BTW, Danielle did something so very nice to me. Ask Lisa...
All my love and more...
HI Michael,
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that I am reading your daily entries almost everyday! The fierce focus of your determination is astounding! This is coupled with a sensitivity, wit, and dare I say - charm in recognizing the love of family and friends that surround you.
There are many blessings for which we are always grateful. And great resolve in destroying the bad that exists.
In the few mere words I struggle to find - I remain in awe -continue to fight the fight.
Wishing for all the best!!

Michael:
ReplyDeleteMissed you at "Chinese" tonite at Aish. After the dinner, Esti Kopel gave a class on bitachon for the women. Not only was your name mentioned in the context of the class, but nearly all of the 12 or so women there are reading your blog daily and several are on "Team Tehillim"! As you can see you continue to be a presence in our community, in what we say, do and think about.
We are rooting for you and send you blessings for hatzlacha and perseverence. Looking forward to seeing you back here ASAP.
Love,
Roz, "Shkevin" and Aaron Tzvi
Michael -
